I’m excited to announce my new book is now available to purchase on Amazon! I feel both anxiety and a ton of excitement sending you this email. If it hadn’t been for my incredible editor (whom I also call the book doula), Jenny Ashton, this published work would’ve never been possible. She helped me through the struggle of re-living a very intense trauma in a way that became healing. The last several months I worked with Cat Childs of Lovepress who was the illustrator and graphic designer for the book. The cover art was extremely important to get right, because it was inspired by an original piece of art Hudsyn did back in first grade. Hudsyn, her art teacher and her occupational therapist worked together using a stamping machine to create it. Hudsyn selected the three shapes and colors with her switch device which, ironically became the representations of the three sections in the book:
- The Hurt (starburst),
- The Healing (heart) and,
- The Hope (flower).
The overall design also looks like a snowflake…something that is incredibly universal (everyone knows what a snowflake is), yet extremely unique (every snowflake is different). That describes Hudsyn, and this is our story. I hope you enjoy reading it.
